3.8 km swim, 180 km bike, 42 km run. This is the hurdle that a triathlete has to overcome in the long distance. Tobias Meckl from Marktredwitz has worked long and hard towards this competition. After an illness prevented him from competing in 2022, he made a second attempt at the end of October to be allowed to call himself an “IronMan”.
The professional athletes start first in such a race, followed by the various age groups. The swim went according to plan for Tobias, but after a few kilometers on the bike he started to feel pain in his legs and had to get off the bike to loosen up his muscles. Unfortunately, he was unable to shake this off and it also hampered him in the final marathon run.
Nevertheless, he fought his way through these two disciplines and finally crossed the finish line with a time of 9:54:47 hours, where he was greeted with the words “Tobias - you are an ironman”. Even though he was not satisfied with this time, he can still be proud to have successfully completed the toughest triathlon race in the world, and the entire BD|SENSORS organization would like to congratulate him on this achievement.
