Application
A fuel storage company requires continuous and accurate level monitoring in multiple above-ground diesel tanks. The tanks vary in height from 10 to 65 feet and located outdoors, exposed to temperature changes and potential electrical interference.
Solution
The LMP 307 hydrostatic level transmitter from BD SENSORS is installed at the bottom of each tank, submerged directly in the diesel fuel. The sensor continuously measures the hydrostatic pressure caused by the height/weight of the diesel above it, which is directly proportional to the fluid level.
Why the LMP 307?
• Robust Construction – Stainless steel housing and a cable with FEP or PUR jacket ensure resistance to diesel fuel and harsh environments.
• High Accuracy – 0.35% or 0.1% FS accuracy ensures precise inventory tracking.
• Compact 1" Design – Easily fits in tight tank openings or pipe stilling wells.
• Temperature Stability – Reliable readings even in fluctuating outdoor temperatures.
• Customizable Ranges – Pressure range configured to match tank height
Customer Benefits
• Easy integration with tank monitoring systems (via 4–20 mA or 0-10V signal)
• Real-time visibility of diesel inventory across multiple locations
• Improved accuracy over float-based or ultrasonic systems
• Reduced maintenance with a rugged, sealed sensor
Conclusion
The LMP 307 provides a reliable, low-maintenance solution for continuous diesel level monitoring - ensuring supply chain efficiency and preventing costly overfills or shortages.
